I've been playing around more with GIMP and thanks to the Dr. Pepper contest, the daMuro.  It's been a fun little distraction from the worries of real life. That said, trying to draw with a mouse is proving to be quite a chore.  I really long for the fine motor control a pen or pencil allows me, not to mention the ability to smudge, blend and the like on the fly instead of trying to find the digital equivalent. Now, this may be in large part to simply being unfamiliar with the software, a problem that I'm slowly getting around, but part of me still longs for the traditional media.  I like art that I can touch, feel and in some cases even sm

Okay, I feel a bit odd pimping a charity in my very first journal entry, but seeing as I have no money to donate, getting the word out is the best I can do. For those who don't know, I'm currently attending Mission College and Pierce College, which are part of the LACCD  (Los Angeles Community College District).  They're getting ready for "Hands Across California" to help raise awareness of the needs of students and to raise money for scholarships. Mission College is the only college in the LACCD to offer an AA in Multimedia and is giving me a chance at a long held dream of going into Animation and Design for a living.  Without the programs
